release notes :
D999 is a duet formed by Jean-François Olivier (laptop) and David Caulet (tenor saxophone), and is based in Nîmes, France. On this short EP, recorded at the GNEM in Marseille, they explore the interactions between the acoustic (and melody) of the saxophone and ambient textures mixed with 'on the fly' sampling from the laptop computer. Their music is very intuitive and dense, varying from minimalistic question/answer or tiny electronic filters on short melodic sentences to overwhelming and almost noisy phases. Caution: This is some highly inspired music that could irritate well-educated students.
