Aurorae Chaos

01 – Aurorae Chaos (07:36)
02 – Olympus Mons (07:49)

Johann Bourquenez, piano & composition

I’m pleased to propose you a new piano solo recording, Aurorae Chaos.
Two pieces inspired by planet Mars’ landscapes and mountains. (Yes, after Saturn’s moons for the last Plaistow’s album, Titan, this time it’s Mars.). Those pieces are part of a longer serie that I wish to record later.
This music was recorded one evening in the concert room at the AMR Jazz Club in Geneva – after the Festival, to be accurate the day after the Bill Carrothers’ concert, and he plays so heavenly that the piano was still perfectly tuned. Old friend and collaborator D’incise made the recording and mixing, and Pierre Schilling made some graphic editing based on an image by ESA (European Space Agency), a photo of Martian canyons that inspired this music, Aurorae Chaos.
By the way, Olympus Mons is an exctinct, 22km high volcano on Mars, the biggest known volcano in the Solar System.

Solo 1

“Solo 1” was my first piano solo release, in April 2014. One year and half later, I think this is not that bad… and that it was more a draft than a real release- The idea was to compose and release something anyway, and it was good to experiment a piano solo recording (with Renaud Millet-Lacombe).

piano & composition : Johann Bourquenez
sound : Renaud Millet-Lacombe, La Fonderie, Fribourg & Hush-Sound, Geneva
